Boots Place Captures Tioga Feature on Friday Night

Jimmy Marohn Jr. and Boots Place captured the $15,000 Fillies and Mares Open Handicap pace on Friday night at Tioga Downs.

With Howard Parker and Lucy Lucy leading the field of nine pacing mares to the quarter in 27, Boots Place settled in last from post position eight.

Parker continued to lead them through fractions of 55.4 and 1:24 before heavy pressure came from Mike Micallif and Princess Michi.

The field was caving in on Lucy Lucy coming from everywhere with Penny Pincher and Corey Braden slipping through at the rail.

Marohn rallied Boots Place from the clouds to nail Penny Pincher on the wire in 1:54.

It was the sixth win in twenty starts for the 5-year old Park Place-Put The Boots mare, who is trained by Ross Claridge for Bernard Segebade of New Jersey.

Penny Pincher (Corey Braden) got nosed out and had to settle for second, while Sadies Place (Kevin Hough) and Impressive Char (Bruce Ranger) rounded out the $2,365 superfecta.

Tioga Downs continues live racing action on Saturday, June 26th at 6:50 PM, and also on Sunday, June 27th at 1:30 PM featuring the $6,000 guaranteed pick six, in races four through nine.
