Tioga Downs today satisfied
a threshold requirement of the guidelines established by the New York State
Gaming Commission by submitting its $1 million application fee in advance of a
mandatory applicant conference.
Located in the Southern
Tier of New York at the gateway to the Finger Lakes, Tioga Downs has long been
partnering with community institutions and facilities - not just in
anticipation of its application for a full gaming license, but rather
consistent with its commitment to genuine relationships.
"Responsible, realistic
growth based on longstanding partnerships with our neighbors and area civic
organizations is how we've always operated," said Jeff Gural, Chairman of
American Racing & Entertainment, which owns Tioga Downs. "We are
already expanding, with a new indoor parking garage now under construction and
recently announced destination attractions scheduled for the 2014 winter
holiday season."
Tioga Downs, in addition
to its many long-standing local partnerships, last week announced its first
annual WinterFest destination attraction to run from Thanksgiving through New
Year’s Eve.
Tioga Downs Casino also
announced an option agreement with the Tioga Country Club, which Tioga Downs
will operate if awarded a Gaming Facility License under the Upstate New York
Gaming Economic Development Act of 2013.
Said Jeff Gural,
"This facility and its application are uniquely positioned -
geographically, economically, and certainly in terms of timing - to provide the
most realistic and most responsible benefits to the Southern Tier and all of
New York State as soon as possible. Our employees, neighbors, and supporters
are eagerly looking forward to the rest of this deliberate application
process."
