World
Champs to help conclude 11th racing season
Nichols,
N.Y. – September 12,
2016 – Fans will have one last chance to experience the thrill of live harness
racing September 16 and 17 with a post time of 6:30 pm both nights. As part of the celebration for the conclusion
of another successful season of racing, the entertainment complex has invited
the 2016 Little League Series World Champion Maine-Endwell Little League team to
be recognized at the track on Friday, September 16. Following the conclusion
and final results of the third race, the players and coaching staff will be
escorted onto the track infield for a special recognition of the world
championship team. Tioga Downs will also be presenting a donation to the
Maine-Endwell Little League as well as a donation for the other little leagues
in the region. Following the
celebration, the team will be treated to a private reception and dinner
trackside courtesy of Tioga Downs.
Since winning the Little League World Series
title, the Maine-Endwell Little League team has received a number of requests
to appear at both local, regional and national venues and media outlets. In
addition to Tioga Downs, the team has traveled to Citi Field to throw out the
first pitch at the New York Mets Game, visited Yankee Stadium for a celebration
of the team, has served as grand marshals of the New York State Fair’s parade as
well as the Indy race at Watkins Glen and has even received a call from
President Obama congratulating them on their victory, just to name a few.
The 11th racing season draws
to a close on Saturday with the culmination of a season-long promotion to give
one lucky fan a new car. After racing ends, fans can say farewell to the 11th
season of racing while enjoying a spectacular fireworks show.
One winner will walk away the owner of a
2016 Toyota Yaris. Fans will have one last chance to earn an entry into the
drawing. Once all entries have been received, names will be called in backwards
order until one entry remains in the drawing barrel as the winner. Several
televisions are also up for grabs. The free drawings feature three 48-inch TVs
and one 43-inch TV as prizes.
Even after racing concludes for the
season, there are plenty of reasons to come to Tioga Downs. A car and
motorcycle show September 24 will feature an opportunity to showcase a variety
of vehicles for community members to enjoy. It’s free to visit the show and
only $1 per vote to help select a favorite in various categories. Cars and
bikes pay a nominal fee to enter.
Meanwhile, expansion efforts to
transform Tioga Downs into a world-class resort continue. Construction is now
underway on a brand new hotel to be built at Tioga Downs, and the first
finished section of the new gaming area was recently unveiled inside the
casino. Additional renovations and additions are ongoing.
