Waverly football team to thank Tioga Downs for assisting in Wounded Warrior fundraising efforts

Waverly athletes will visit Tioga Downs Tuesday to thank Jeff Gural for donated jerseys

Nichols, N.Y. – August 28, 2017 – The Waverly High School football team, which has been working to raise funds and awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project, will be visiting Tioga Downs Tuesday to thank owner Jeff Gural for his support in that mission.

Mr. Gural generously donated $3500 to the team to purchase Wounded Warrior jerseys. The Wounded Warrior Project is a military and veterans charity service organization empowering injured veterans and their families.

On Wednesday, August 30 at 2:30 p.m., Waverly football players will don their jerseys at Tioga Downs to thank Mr. Gural. During their visit, the team will also record a video tribute thanking all of those who serve our country. The recording will be played on the team’s video board at the Wounded Warrior game on Friday September 8, Waverly’s first home game of the season.

“It’s no secret that I’m very passionate about supporting the men and women who have bravely and selflessly served our country,” Jeff Gural said. “It’s wonderful that these students already share that great respect and appreciation for the veterans who have sacrificed so much for our freedom. It was my pleasure to donate these jerseys; I could not be prouder of their efforts.”

The Waverly football team has been fundraising, and will also be making a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project.
