Tioga Downs announces new paddock plans for 2012

Tioga Downs management and the Southern Tier Harness Horsemen's Association have been in negotiations and have plans to build a new paddock on the backstretch side of the racetrack for the 2012 race season.

The new paddock will be in the current location of the race office and commission building and will hold eight to nine races and will also be home to a new commission and race office.

The location of the current paddock will be the new home for the Tioga Downs Hotel, once the paddock is relocated.

The plans are to break ground later in 2011 and have the paddock up and ready to go by the 2012 race season.

"We feel that with the addition of the new paddock located on the backstretch side of the racetrack, that Tioga Downs will be an even bigger destination for horsemen located throughout the East Coast," said Guy Howard, President of the STHHA.
