Following successful completion of a
$3.28 million renovation of the club house at its 112-acre golf course, Tioga
Downs continues to raise the bar for customer experience as it announced the
new hire of PGA Class A Member Adam Augustine as Head Golf Professional for the
facility.
Augustine comes into the position with
over twenty yers of proven industry expertise, as he was awarded Central New
York PGA Merchandiser of the Year in 2009; a three-time winner of the Central
N.Y. PGA Fall Pro Shootout as well as Pennsylvania Central Counties Pro-Am
Championship winner in 2017; and a three-time nominee for Central N.Y. PGA
Section Assistant Golf Professional of the year.
Born and raised in Elmira, N.Y.,
Augustine still resides there with his wife, Shelly.
Augustine has been a Class A PGA
Member since 2004, and dedicated several years as a member on the national PGA
President’s Council on Growing the Game. Throughout his career, he has
continued to utilize his passion and knowledge to still provide excellent educational
opportunities for golfers of all ages and skillsets, while providing
award-winning golf course operations and a proven track record for increasing
club memberships and engagement at his facilities.
Among the successful golf courses that
Augustine has managed is the Mark Twain Golf Course in Elmira, which was rated
the Number One Best Kept Secret in America by Golf Digest in 2004. The facility
was also ranked 25th by Golf Week Magazine on “America’s 30 Best Municipal Golf
Courses” list.
Augustine’s commitment to growing the
game has illustrated his consistent close partnerships with local municipal
leaders, as he has a proven track record of engaging at municipal meetings and
ensuring community satisfaction.
The Tioga Golf Club facilities feature
a bar and restaurant, pro shop, locker rooms, along with a banquet hall and a
full on-site catering kitchen. The multi-million dollar expansion is part of a
$134 million investment in the region by Tioga Downs to provide a full
destination experience, with casino, harness racing track and hotel.
