
Impressive Char and Greg Merton captured Saturday night’s $10,000 Class B Handicap Pace for fillies and mares at Tioga Downs.
Merton sent Impressive Char to the front from post position nine and never looked back pacing through fractions of 26.3, 56.2, 1:25.1, before stopping the tele-timer in 1:55.
It was the sixth win of the year for the 5-year old Jody’s Cam-Lake Hills Char mare for Orville Rursch of Illinois.
Kevin Johnson trains Impressive Char, who increased her seasonal earnings to more than $53,000.
Leading driver Corey Braden and Fern Paquet Jr. both posted driving doubles on the night’s 10-race card.
Tioga Downs continues live racing action on Sunday, May 30th with a special post time of 6:30 PM, which features the finals of the Empire Breeders Classic with purses of more than $400,000.
